چکیده

This paper investigates whether structural priming is sensitive to the phrasal vs. clausal nature of the constructions it tests. To that end, we examine NPs that receive a question-like interpretation when embedded under certain predicates. These NPs study that establishes co-occurrence patterns of the target embedding predicates. We t Both written sentence completion tasks demonstrate structural priming, which turns out to be sensitive to the phrase-clause distinction.

Phrasal and clausal comparatives in Greek and the abstractness of syntax

Greek phrasal and reduced clausal comparatives differ in that the former, but not the latter, show island sensitivities. In neither case, however, is the material that constitutes the island pronounced. This paper argues that such facts can only be captured by positing abstract unpronounced syntactic structures over which the island constraints are stated; the comparison between the two kinds o...

Lexical or syntactic control of sentence formulation? Structural generalizations from idiom production.

To compare abstract structural and lexicalist accounts of syntactic processes in sentence formulation, we examined the effectiveness of nonidiomatic and idiomatic phrasal verbs in inducing structural generalizations. Three experiments made use of a syntactic priming paradigm in which participants recalled sentences they had read in rapid serial visual presentation. Prime and target sentences co...

Structural Priming Effects on EFL Production of Passive Structures

This study investigates the role structural priming plays in production of passive structures among Iranian EFL learners. After taking the placement test, they were ...
